There are silences that hurt.
And then there are silences that surprise us.
The kind that arrive after too many conversations, too many explanations, too many attempts to make someone understand what your heart has been trying to say.
At first, the quiet feels strange.
You wonder if you should break it.
You wonder if you should reach out.
You wonder if being okay with the distance somehow makes you a bad person.
But then, somewhere inside the quiet, you notice something unexpected.
You can breathe.
Your shoulders relax.
Your mind isn’t preparing for the next argument.
You aren’t rehearsing what to say or wondering how someone will respond.
And you realize…
Maybe Wave 53 is showing us that silence isn’t always the end of a relationship.
Maybe it’s simply the space where both people can stop reacting long enough to decide what comes next.
That doesn’t mean you don’t care.
It doesn’t mean you want someone to hurt.
It simply means you are beginning to understand that loving someone and needing distance from them can exist in the same heart.
Distance isn’t always rejection. Sometimes, it’s the space where we stop reacting long enough to breathe.
And perhaps we don’t have to rush to fill every silence.
Some silences are asking us to listen.
Not to the other person’s absence.
But to ourselves.
Because sometimes, healing doesn’t begin when the conversation continues.
Sometimes, it begins when the conversation finally stops long enough for us to hear what the noise was keeping us from hearing.
Have you ever found yourself uncomfortable in the silence after an argument, wondering whether it was a sign that something was broken… or the beginning of a solution?
Is this silence a problem, or is it finally giving us room to hear ourselves?
