I think I’ve finally understood one of the things that stops me the most.
I want to do so many things.
I have ideas. I have dreams. I can see pieces of the life I want. Sometimes I can even see the finished picture.
And then I get stuck.
I don’t know how.
I don’t know where to start.
I don’t know who can help me.
I don’t know what I need to learn.
And sometimes, the few things I think should already be working aren’t working the way I imagined they would.
So I stop.
Maybe that’s what perfection does to us.
It makes us believe that if we don’t know how to do something perfectly, we shouldn’t start doing it at all.
Think about moving into a new house. You can dream about the house, picture yourself living there, imagine the space you want. But then come the questions: How will I buy it? What will I need? Can I afford it? What has to happen first?
And suddenly, the dream becomes a spreadsheet.
The same thing happens with a career. You know you want something different. You know you have skills that could take you somewhere else. But you don’t know exactly how to get there, so you don’t knock on the door.
You eliminate yourself before anyone else has the chance to say yes.
We do it with relationships, too. We imagine the person we want to meet, the life we want to share, the future we want to build. But we want to know how the whole story ends before we allow the first chapter to begin.
Even the biggest companies in the world started somewhere.
An idea in someone’s head.
A note on a piece of paper.
A conversation.
A desk.
A first attempt.
Nobody builds a 500-million-dollar company on the first day. Nobody lifts 500 pounds on the first day either. You start with what you can carry, and you get stronger as you go.
Life is like that.
You need a starting point. You need a vision of where you want to go. But the path between the two doesn’t always come with instructions.
Sometimes you have to open the way as you walk.
You try something. It doesn’t work the way you thought it would. So you change it.
You take a different route.
You learn something you didn’t know before.
You try again.
That isn’t failure. That’s movement.
Maybe we spend too much time trying to create the perfect plan when what we really need is the willingness to keep adjusting the plan.
Because consistency isn’t about knowing exactly what you’re doing.
It’s about continuing to show up while you’re figuring it out.
And perhaps that’s what I need to remember.
I don’t have to know how.
I just have to be willing to begin.
And then figure it out as I go.
Maybe Wave 55 is about understanding that consistency isn’t about doing the same thing over and over. It’s about refusing to stop moving while you find your way, and not letting the need for perfection keep you standing still.
What is the dream you’re holding back because you’re waiting to know exactly how to get there?
What if you stopped trying to make the path perfect before you took the first step?
